Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

 

3MT is an international competition created by the University of Queensland in Australia where students have three minutes to present their graduate thesis or dissertation. With just one static slide, no props, costumes, or multimedia, this is the ultimate test of a student’s ability to explain often complex concepts and findings to a general audience. 3MT participants are judged on comprehension, content, engagement, and communication.

TCU and the Office of Graduate Studies participate in 3MT, with monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and a people’s choice award, where audience members vote. Some colleges have their own competitions in addition to the campus-wide competition.
